With the proper precautions and an open mind, the COVID19 world can be your oyster. Several countries are beinning to forego quarantine, requiring a negative COVID19 test for entry instead. Less tourists crowding monument, shorter lines, better prices and more beautiful views are just some of what you'll enjoy at this very unique time. Here are a few destinations that are using the COVID19 pandemic as an opportunity to open their borders and welcome tourism from around the world. I've traveled to all of these places and love them!
As of July 1st, Greece opened its borders to over 45 countries. Many of the countries able to enjoy the white sandy beaches of this ancient paradise come from the EU, but other countries like the UAE, China, Japan and Rawanda were included. Greece enjoys warm temperatures between June and September, so make sure to jump onboard while you still can. Before COVID19 Greece was a great destinations to enjoy relaxation at a favorable price and I can only imagine the values you can find now.
When I began searching the mandatory quarantine list for potential non-quarantine destinations, Turkey peeked my interest and wow am I glad for it! The most incredible experience was meeting a fellow solo traveler from California from just minutes away from my home town. Mind blowing! Istanbul was so colorful and energetic, while Antalya was extraordinarily relaxing with its beautiful views and delicious food. Most EU countries and the US are welcome to visit the bridge between Europe and Asia, so put it on your travel list, because this is definitely one you can't miss. Make sure to check out the view of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque from the Four Seasons Hotel and enjoy their life-changing Autumn cocktail. (Video and article coming soon!)
As a Southern California native, Mexico holds a special place in my heart, so how amazing was it to learn that Mexico is available for travel! I've enjoyed a wonderful trip to Mexico City, the silver mining town of Taxco, the pyramids in Teotihuacán and Ensenada which were beautiful. High on my list still, is the Mexican Riviera Maya. Make your plans to visit, let me know how you love it and share your favorite restaurant recommendation for tacos, because you know that my trip to Pablito in Antalya left a little something to be desired.
These are just a few tips while I gather a resource list for your to keep updated on where you can travel from and to, whever you are in the world.
